User’s post on July 30, Tried several other installation methods but also ended up as CD drive. Removed all traces of the HP software and cleaned registry. Installed the printer and it worked fine but the day after the cd drive would appear. The printer also said it was offline and would not print anymore. But I found a very simple solution: on the printer itself go to the settings menu and look for hp smart install and set it to disabled. As soon as I did this all of the waiting documents in the queue rolled out of the printer and the problem has been solved ever since.
