If you’re not familiar with an artist’s work, you might not notice the error. There are four different albums listed. But only the first one is the AVA album. A newbie might not be aware, because the heading wasn’t printed. Also, I have seen a few albums eliminated from the guide that in past printings had values that were way above Goldmine’s minimum price Two Bing Crosby box sets come to mind.
Even a Beatles album is missing The original two record “Rock and Roll Music” set; They have the later individual albums, but dropped the set.
Or deliberate? They did correct the bad error from last guide in not having overall genres in the Various Artists section, but used the one from their Jazz guide. But overall, a good book with useful collecting information , and I highly recommend it for both the novice collector and the old fogies like me.
However, going through my mundane collection from the 60s. On the whole, disappointed. That’s what I did when the album I was seeking was not listed in the book.
Instead of listing these chronologically by label, these titles are listed alphabetically by song. Not all are listed; although the author states only those pressed in the US are listed I think there are a lot more. I am so glad I didn’t give away my Goldmine 7th edition. Extremely disappointed. My hubby collects albums and has always used this book. I knew it had a while since his last edition so I bought this as a Christmas present. He is glued to it, always looking up current values.
This is a well written book for guidance to anyone who collects and also sells LPs. Worth the money as if you sell, you will earn back the cost, which was a fair price, over and over.
Prices for albums are way off, when comparing to sites where people buy and sell records. Hard to find albums, and some that must be about 15 bucks are missing. That being said, this is a Herculean effort and there is nothing like it. But I use the net. One person found this helpful. What an absolutely waste of time and money. The amount of information seems to be good.
The book came in horrible condition! Many pages out of sequence and out of order, then added in the wrong place!!
Regarding “Wordery”, the seller, the service from them was superb with the price and early delivery. I would certainly use this company again and recommend them. Despite it’s flaws this is still the best guide available.
Some errors have been carried over from previous editions but this time prices have been more widely updated to reflect the current market. Good luck with finding one at that price if Ebay sales are anything to go by By contrast, some genres and eras seem overvalued. Overall though a very good guide for collectors. Been buying this for years but please if your selling use it as a guide only. Getting a bit too large and think its time to split eras up.
I bought this record price book for my husband as a present and he is pleased with it. I have purchased one before and I think it is nice to know the value of any LP’s or singles. He will keep reading it just to keep up to date. Good purchase and well worth the money. I,m not sure that this book reflects market values in this market. Firstly I would say if you are into Beatles records this is an absolute essential and I would recommend but there are so many rare records not even included, for example: Seahorses ‘Do It Yourself’.

Slightly upset that the letters in this Guide are getting smaller, supposedly to fit more entries in the same size book. I am very surprised how many more vinyl records are omitted, copy to copy.
